Dr. Kela Smith: My journey began with my own struggle with infertility. When my husband and I decided to have kids, we assumed getting pregnant would be easy. After months of trying with no success, we were diagnosed with “unexplained infertility.”

 

At 36, doctors encouraged me to go straight to IVF — despite my tests showing nothing medically wrong. That didn’t feel right to me, so I searched for natural fertility solutions. After deep research, I discovered I had hypothalamic amenorrhea, caused by over-exercising, under-eating, and excessive stress.

 

Once I addressed those issues, my menstrual cycle returned, and I conceived naturally — twice — including my last pregnancy at age 40. That experience inspired me to earn my Ph.D. and create a practice helping women and couples solve their fertility puzzles through holistic and integrative methods.
